KU swimmers fall to TCU

? Sophomore Bryce Hinde and freshman Yulduz Kuchkarova posted winning performances Thursday as Kansas University’s swim team fell to TCU, 176-124.

Hinde won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:04.64) and helped Kansas win the 200-yard medley relay (1:45.55) with her 29.19 split on the second leg. Kuchkarova swam the opening leg of the relay (26.82) and won the 200-yard backstroke event (2:03.93), before taking second in the 100-yard backstoke (57.22).

Senior captain Morgan Sharp took first and second in the 100- and 200-yard freestyle races with times of 52.50 and 1:52.74.

“A positive from today was that Morgan Sharp had a very good meet,” KU coach Clark Campbell said. “She raced really tough and won the 100-yard freestyle. For her showing that kind of speed when we haven’t been doing that much speed work during practice was impressive.”

The Jayhawks will return to action Nov. 2 at Robinson Natatorium when they host Nebraska-Omaha and North Dakota. The meet will serve as Senior Day for the Jayhawks, as well as breast-cancer awareness day, when fans are encouraged to wear pink.
