Kansas women’s golf second

? Kansas University sophomore Yupaporn Kawinpakorn claimed her second runner-up finish of the season, and three other Jayhawks finished in the top 15 as KU placed second in the team race at the Diane Thomason Invitational on Sunday at Finkbine Golf Course.

Kawinpakorn shot 78-70-75–223 to finish 10 strokes back of winner Stephanie Miller of Illinois (74-70-69–213) on the par-72 course.

Illinois won the team title with 899 strokes. KU was second at 904.

Kansas’ Minami Levonowich (76-76-75) and Meghan Potee (77-76-74) tied for seventh at 227. Other KU results: Thanuttra Boonraksasat, tied for 15th, 229; Gabby DiMarco and Michelle Woods, playing as individuals, tied for 34th, 235; and Pornvipa Sakdee, tied for 47th, 237.

“I’m very proud of the team and what we have accomplished this fall,” KU coach Erin O’Neil said. “We are doing a great job of getting ourselves in a position to win at each event. Now we need to adjust to being in that kind of situation and learn to finish even stronger.”
