Two Topeka natives, Bryne Gonzales and Natalie Scott, received Kansas University's Excellence in Community, Education and Leadership Award during halftime of KU's homecoming football game Saturday.
Gonzales, a speech-language-hearing major, is a founding father and vice president of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity.
Scott majors in psychology and pre-occupational therapy. She is also a student senator and member of the University Honors Program.
Both are seniors.
Gonzales and Scott will receive an annual $500 scholarship. They were selected from a group of 10 finalists based on leadership, communication skills, involvement in the KU and Lawrence communities and academics.
