Topeka natives sweep ExCEL Awards

Two Topeka natives, Bryne Gonzales and Natalie Scott, received Kansas University’s Excellence in Community, Education and Leadership Award during halftime of KU’s homecoming football game Saturday.

Gonzales, a speech-language-hearing major, is a founding father and vice president of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity.

Scott majors in psychology and pre-occupational therapy. She is also a student senator and member of the University Honors Program.

Both are seniors.

Gonzales and Scott will receive an annual $500 scholarship. They were selected from a group of 10 finalists based on leadership, communication skills, involvement in the KU and Lawrence communities and academics.
