DCCCA hires new director to replace retiring leader

One of Lawrence’s larger social service agencies has a new executive director.

Lori Alvarado has been hired to serve as the executive director of DCCCA Inc., the Lawrence-based agency that helps people with drug and alcohol addiction. Alvarado replaces Bruce Beale, who is retiring after serving as CEO since 1975.

Alvarado most recently has been the executive director of the Kansas Head Start Association in Lawrence. She also has held management positions with Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitative Services, and previously was an employee of DCCCA for 10 years.

Alvarado started in her new role last week. DCCCA employs 250 people throughout its offices in Kansas and Oklahoma.
