Police seek information on vehicle that struck bicylist Monday

Police are searching for more information on a vehicle that collided with a bicyclist Monday afternoon and drove away from the scene.

Sgt. Trent McKinley, a Lawrence Police Department spokesperson, said Tuesday that the vehicle was described as a champagne- or silver-colored pickup truck being driven by a white male in his early 20s.

McKinley identified the bicyclist as Thomas Anneberg, 22. Monday, Sgt. Ted Bordman said the bicyclist did not suffer any life-threatening injuries and received treatment at Watkins Memorial Health Center, which provides health services to Kansas University students. Watkins was unable to provide an update on Anneberg’s condition Tuesday.

The bicyclist and driver approached from opposite directions on 14th Street on Monday afternoon, when the vehicle turned left in front of the biker, causing a collision that knocked Anneberg off his bike.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact police at 832-7509, or CrimeStoppers at 843-TIPS (8477).
