One of the top high school track athletes in Kansas, Free State High senior Alexa Harmon-Thomas, has decided to join the University of Texas track team.

Harmon-Thomas, who helped the Firebirds win the Class 6A state title this past spring, announced her decision Sunday night on Twitter: “It’s official! I have committed to run track at the University of Texas! So excited to be a Longhorn next year! #HookEm,” she wrote.

The Firebird sensation won state titles in the 100 and 300 hurdles, as well as the long jump, as a junior.
