From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for Nov. 24, 1973:

  • Members of the Kansas University bands from 1912 to the present year of 1973 were to join forces at today's halftime show in Lawrence. A total of 145 members of the KU Alumni Band were to combine with the current Marching Jayhawks on the field at Memorial Stadium. KU faculty members in the alumni band included professors and administrators James Ralston, William Kelly, Roger Stoner, Rudolph Radocy, and William Sears.
  • Movies showing in Lawrence this week included Walt Disney's "That Darn Cat," Walter Matthau in "Charley Varrick," "American Graffiti," "Last Tango in Paris, and "Walking Tall." The weekend special at Taco Tico, 2340 Iowa, was taco burgers for only 24 cents (marked down from 39 cents).
