Lawrence chase ends in arrest in Kansas City, Mo.

A pursuit that began in Lawrence early Saturday morning ended with arrests in Kansas City, Mo., a Lawrence police spokesman said

At 1:18 a.m., Lawrence police arrived at Club Magic in the 800 block of West 24th Street after a vehicle was observed traveling at high speed in the area, according to Sgt. Kirk Folks. Officers attempted to talk to the driver when he stopped his car briefly, but he sped off and in the process struck an officer with his passenger-side mirror, Folks said.

Folks said that the vehicle, which carried multiple people, traveled east on Kansas Highway 10. Eudora police intervened in an attempt to stop the vehicle, but eventually both Lawrence and Eudora police ended their pursuit and Kansas City area law enforcement became involved, Folks said.

Folks said that Kansas City, Mo., police made one or more arrests. Saturday afternoon a spokesman at the Jackson County Jail said he did not have the names of those in custody.
