Cider Gallery hosts receptions for installation artist and ceramicist

Cider Gallery is hosting artists Janet Davidson-Hughes and Ben Ahlvers for an informal talk and reception Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Davidson-Hughes is known for combining images, objects and language to create paintings and installations, both audio and video. She has exhibited her work nationally and internationally. She received her MFA from Kansas University and was an assistant professor of art at Indiana State University.

Ahlvers is a ceramicist inspired by personal narrative. Through clay construction, with the additional found object, Ahlvers creates lively figures that appear to be in motion, as if caught mid-gesture. He then juxtaposes the sculpted characters to tell a personal, yet humorous story, while using irony and satire to address light and dark present in life and art.
