The award’s presentation had been made at halftime during the nationally televised Kansas-Colorado football game.
  • A deer had visited the Maupintour Travel Agency offices on the Hillcrest Plaza on a recent Friday night. Police said the animal had apparently escaped with minor injuries after having caused an estimated $150 in damages.
  • A photo of an Atlas Centaur rocket appeared in newspapers this week. The rocket was blasting off from Cape Canaveral, carrying the Mariner 10 spacecraft on a five-month journey to study the planets Venus and Mercury.
