Theatre Lawrence warns customers of credit card information stolen in cyber attack

A Lawrence theater warned Thursday that patrons who bought tickets through its online ticketing agency might have had their credit card information stolen in a cyber attack.

Theatre Lawrence, until recently located at 1501 New Hampshire St., sent an email Thursday to customers advising that their credit card information, mailing addresses, email addresses and phone numbers might have been stolen in a cyber attack on Vendini, a ticketing firm used by the theater.

Neither the theater nor the ticketing agency could be reached by phone Thursday afternoon.

Vendini, a ticketing agency based in San Francisco, was investigating the attack with federal law enforcement and cyber security experts, the message said, and had already notified banks and credit card companies.

The theater’s message advised customers to check their bank and credit card statements for unauthorized transactions. Vendini was expected to send an email with more detailed information later, the message said.

The timing of the attack was inopportune for customers trying to reach the theater by phone, as its offices were closed from Thursday until Tuesday while the theater moved to a new location at 4660 Bauer Farm Drive, just east of Wakarusa Drive and West Sixth Street.
