Brent G. Uebelhart, Overland Park, and Kevin E. Shaw, Western Springs, Ill., were arrested by campus police officers on patrol about 2 a.m. Friday, said Capt. Schuyler Bailey, a KU Public Safety Office spokesman. The officers were patrolling the stadium when they noticed suspects trying to remove the chair. One of the men was arrested in the 1100 block of Fambrough Drive. The other was arrested in the 1100 block of Mississippi Street. The chair, valued at $180, was recovered and may have been one of the stadium's luxury seats, Bailey said, but details were not available Friday morning.

Uebelhart and Shaw were both booked into Douglas County Jail on suspicion of burglary, possession of stolen property and consumption of alcohol by a minor. Both remained in custody Friday morning, with bond set at $3,100.

Sound like a couple of smooth criminals. They managed to make it a whole two blocks or so before getting busted.

Sounds like they took off running. One went east, the other west. And they didn't get very far. What a couple of idiots.

We used to break into the stadium, but it was just to get horizontal on the 50.

"..... and consumption of alcohol by a minor" What !!!????? I'm shocked, shocked I tell you !!!

Andini probably had the best idea. Or, an off-take of that - as their punishment they have to sit in that seat in the stadium during the games. The entire game and no alcohol !!!

---a chair. ... really, that's what they were heisting?

and just what were buthead and his henchman going to do with this chair?

I say it was mercy that now they are actually going to miss their finals because they clearly weren't going to do very well on them! lol!

make them watch all the football games?* no, not that! even the U.S. constitution outlaws cruel and inhumane punishments!

These guys may seem like typical college students pulling a harmless and humorous prank but they're actually a part of a sinister underground conspiracy to keep KU football at the bottom of the big 12. Just think about it, every time a chair is stolen from Memorial Stadium it decreases the seating capacity by If this happens 2000 times over the next ten weeks there won't be enough seats left to hold the throng of fans (at least in the first quarter)! By the way, what chair did they steal? Hope it wasn't mine!

The punishment should be that both of them are forced to sit in the same seat for all the games and clean all the "Jayhawks on Parade" on campus before each game.
