Kansas’ Liz Scherer was named the Big 12’s Rowing Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Scherer, a junior from Wamego, has a 3.96 grade-point average and is an exercise-science major. She rows on KU’s First Varsity Eight and was a second-team All-Big 12 pick. She was a first-team Academic All-Big 12 pick, a Conference USA All-Academic selection and a C-USA Commissioners Academic medal award winner.

KU’s Caty Clements, who has a 3.92 GPA in accounting, also was named to the C-USA All-Academic squad and received the C-USA Commissioners Academic medal.
