From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for March 24, 1973:

• The proposed Kansas University Faculty Club was already gaining interest in the community. A group of KU staff members and community representatives were making plans to convert the former Phi Kappa Tau fraternity house at 1120 W. 11th into a home for the club, which would feature dining and recreational facilities. The building had been purchased by the KU Endowment Association for use by the Faculty Club, contingent on a successful fund-raising and membership campaign by the new organization. The club had already attracted over 400 members, with organizers hoping for at least 500 memberships by the end of the following week.
• Recreational user fees to be in effect on May 21 had been established for the 10 lakes in Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, and Nebraska under the jurisdiction of the Army Corps of Engineers. Perry Lake was included in the list. Col. W. R. Needham, district engineer, said that day use of fees of 50 cents per car would be charged in designated areas and fees of $1 to $2 would be charged per camping unit. There were to be no fees for launching private boats in any public use area.
