New Orleans Kansas University long- and triple-jumper Andrea Geubelle was named the nation’s female athlete of the year, the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced Tuesday.
Geubelle won titles in both events at the recent NCAA Indoor Championships. Teammate Diamond Dixon earned the honor last season.
“This is definitely the cherry on top of everything that’s happened in the last week,” Geubelle said. “I worked hard for it and that hard work is paying off. For Diamond to get it last year and me to win this year has shown how far our program has come and how well we’re doing on a national level.”
