40 years ago: New developments, IRBs on commission agenda

From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for March 13, 1973:

Coming up for the next meeting of the Lawrence City Commission was the issue of drainage studies in areas proposed for new housing development in southwest Lawrence. Another item up for discussion was a request from Lawrence Paper Company for $625,000 of industrial revenue bonds to finance construction of a new warehouse to be located in the Santa Fe Industrial Park. Also on the agenda were items related to paving and storm sewer improvements, the purchase of a front-mounted mower for the parks and recreation department, a five-year extension of the cable TV franchise for the World Co., and a request from the Dairy Queen, 1835 Massachusetts, for a variance from the city sign ordinance.
