25 years ago: KU chancellor to visit KU alum group in South Korea

From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for March 9, 1988:

Kansas University Chancellor Gene Budig was planning to travel to South Korea later this month to meet with a newly formed KU alumni group there. A group of 25 to 30 alumni had established the chapter in Seoul during the previous fall, according to Jim Scally, assistant to the chancellor. The group was headed by Jong-Woo Han, president and publisher of The Korea Herald, and Yung Kim, president of Jindo Industries. The meeting, Scally said, was just to give the chancellor “a chance to encourage them to continue their activities as members of the alumni association.” As of 1988 there were also KU alumni chapters in Taiwan, Hong Kong, the Philippines, the United Kingdom, Thailand, Japan, Venezuela, Malaysia, and the Federal Republic of Germany, with a new chapter in the planning stages in Costa Rica.
