KU soccer signs Houston defender

Jen Rush, a defensive specialist from Houston Clements High, has signed a soccer letter of intent with Kansas University.

Rush completes a large newcomer class which also lists Maddie Dobyns, Tayler Estrada, Jackie Georgoulis, Ashley Pankey, Morgan Williams and Aurélie Gagnet.

“We are excited to add Jen to this freshman class,” Francis said. “She will give us some speed and quickness which we can use out wide, either in the back or up front. Jen is a versatile player which is good because we will have a lot of open spots in the lineup this fall and she can help us in several of those spots. She has a great work ethic and we expect her to help us right away.”

Rush earned her third straight first-team all-district honor, which she added to a second team distinction her freshman year. A two-time captain for the Rangers, Rush led a stout backfield as her team advanced all the way to the regional semifinals this past season. Rush also played club for Mac McCallum and SCFC 95 Premier for the past four years.
