— Cindy O'Neal has been appointed by Gov. Sam Brownback to a three-year-term on the Kansas State Fair Board.

O'Neal is chief of staff to House Appropriations Chairman Marc Rhoades, R-Newton, and an assistant to the assistant general manager of the State Fair.

O'Neal is the wife of former House Speaker Mike O'Neal, who now is president and chief executive officer of the Kansas Chamber of Commerce.

Mike O'Neal served as a legislator from Hutchinson for 28 years. He was speaker of the 125-member House his last four years in office. Both he and his wife live in Lawrence now.

In other appointments of area residents made by Brownback:

• Ann Peuser, of Baldwin City, was re-appointed to a four-year term on the Kansas State Board of Agriculture.

• Amy Fowler, of Lawrence, was appointed to a three-year term on the Kansas Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.

If Brownback is not obviously bribing someone or some organization (think the state Chamber or Mike O'Neal) with a job then he is doing his best to make someone or some organization indebted to him. That is him 100%. That is his idea of politics. Its NEVER about what is good for the state or its citizens. The people of Kansas MUST toss him out of office.

I find it interesting that she is listed as living in Lawrence, a dark spiritual place!

• Cindy O’Neal, Lawrence, is being appointed to a three year term. Mrs. O’Neal earned a bachelor degree from Washburn University. She is currently the Chief of Staff for the Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee and is Assistant to Assistant General Manager for the Kansas State Fair

Per her credentials, she seems well enough qualified for this position on the Kansas Fair Board. Additionally, she would find a certain efficiency in being close to the fair so as to enter her husband former Speaker of the Kansas House, Mike O'Neal, in the pig contest. Based on his credentials, he is well qualified for that!

if Brownback's name is inthe headline, say for causing world peace and ending AIDS they'd still find a way to attack him and add Koch bothers paranoia. lol.

give the job to friends and wives of friends -- that's the way of Huey Long. Oh wait, I meant Sammy Brownback. These people couldn't get real jobs. Guess it is better that they don't live on welfare.
