Brownback appoints Cindy O’Neal to State Fair Board

? Cindy O’Neal has been appointed by Gov. Sam Brownback to a three-year-term on the Kansas State Fair Board.

O’Neal is chief of staff to House Appropriations Chairman Marc Rhoades, R-Newton, and an assistant to the assistant general manager of the State Fair.

O’Neal is the wife of former House Speaker Mike O’Neal, who now is president and chief executive officer of the Kansas Chamber of Commerce.

Mike O’Neal served as a legislator from Hutchinson for 28 years. He was speaker of the 125-member House his last four years in office. Both he and his wife live in Lawrence now.

In other appointments of area residents made by Brownback:

• Ann Peuser, of Baldwin City, was re-appointed to a four-year term on the Kansas State Board of Agriculture.

• Amy Fowler, of Lawrence, was appointed to a three-year term on the Kansas Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
