Visiting student musicians to give free concert at Lied

Outstanding high school musicians participating in this year’s Prairie Winds Festival will culminate a weekend of instruction with a free performance for the public.

The concert is scheduled for 1 p.m. Feb. 3 at the Lied Center, 1600 Stewart Ave.

The festival, put on the by the Kansas University School of Music, is expected to draw more than 100 wind and percussion musicians from Kansas and eight other states. Students will participate in master classes, clinics, chamber ensembles and performances in select wind ensembles led by KU’s faculty musicians.
