Baldwin boys make own final

Baldwin 57, Anderson County 43

Baldwin City — Baldwin held Anderson County to six second-half points in a boys basketball victory in a semifinal of the Baldwin Invitational on Friday night.

Senior center Caleb Gaylord led the Bulldogs with a game-high 19 points. Baldwin (7-3) will play Bonner Springs in the tournament finals for the fourth straight year.

Bonner Springs 34, Wellsville 25

Baldwin City — Bonner Springs ground out a second-round victory against Wellsville in a Baldwin Invitational semifinal, earning a chance to defend the title it has won the past three years.

Bonner Springs: Austen Twombley 17, Moore 4, Jackson 5, Terrell 2, Howell 6

Wellsville: Cole Sillsby 5, Shamus Kearney 9, Luke Meyer 5, Carter Mann 6

Blue Valley SW 57, Tonganoxie 45

Tonganoxie — Tonganoxie went scoreless for nearly 10 minutes and couldn’t overcome an early 15-point deficit in a semifinal at the Tonganoxie Invitational.

Ben Johnson and Jack Dale led Tongie (6-4) with 12 points apiece. The Chieftains will face Holton for third place today.

Mill Valley 83, Wright Christian 41

Coffeyville — Mill Valley advanced to the championship game of the Coffeyville tournament with a 42-point win after leading 54-28 at halftime. Mill Valley’s Wyatt Voorhes scored a game-high 18 points.

ACCHS 49, McLouth 39

McLouth — McLouth was done in by a disastrous second half at its own tournament.

The Bulldogs took an 18-13 lead into halftime, but ACCHS rallied with a 36-point second half.

Jefferson West 60, Oskaloosa 37

McLouth — Nine players scored in Jeff West’s rout of Oskaloosa in the McLouth Invitational.

Girls

De Soto 43, Silver Lake 33

Tonganoxie — Megan Bonar scored 18 points and Paige Williams 14 as De Soto won at the Tonganoxie Invitational despite a three-point second quarter. Bonar also had eight rebounds for De Soto, which will face Chanute in the title game at 5 p.m. today.

Chanute 40, Tonganoxie 39

Tonganoxie — Shelby Trout drained a three-pointer with 7.5 seconds remaining to propel Chanute in a Tonganoxie Invitational semifinal.

Jenny Whitledge led Tonganoxie (8-2) with 11 points. The Chieftains will play Silver Lake in the third-place game.
