Veritas girls lose in third-place game at Braymer tourney

Braymer, Mo. — Madison Bennett scored 18 points, but the Veritas Christian girls basketball team lost to Tina-Avalon (Mo.) on Friday night in the third-place game of the Braymer tournament.

Kelsey Garber led Tina-Avalon with 22 points, and the Eagles couldn’t catch up despite making a run and getting to the foul line. Veritas converted just six of its 14 free-throw attempts.

Veritas (6-5) will play on Tuesday at Topeka Cornerstone.

Southwest (Mo.) 50, Veritas boys 37

Braymer, Mo. — Veritas (8-2) lost Thursday night in the semifinals of the Braymer tournament to Southwest (Mo.) and play in the third-place game at 5:30 p.m. today against Tina-Avalon (Mo.).
