Topeka music competition open to Lawrence middle-schoolers

Lawrence sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade music students are invited to participate in the upcoming Topeka Young Musician Awards competition.

Each participant will receive at least three evaluations, and the top five finalists in each of four categories — piano, vocal, strings and winds/percussion — will compete in the awards event Feb. 24th in Topeka. Cash prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place.

To enter, students should prepare a 3-minute musical selection and submit a video recording by Jan. 15. The entry fee is $25. Find more information and entry forms online at topekamusicawards.com.

The competition is a project of Midwest Musical Arts and made possible by sponsorships from businesses.
