Lawrence residents, if Thursday is your trash day, the city wants you to set out your trash carts tonight.
Lawrence trash crews are expected to start extra early on Thursday, in order to get off the streets ahead of as much of the snowfall as possible.
The city is urging residents to set carts out tonight, in order to not miss their trash pick-up for the week.
If residents do miss their trash pick-up, they can call 832-3032 to arrange for another pick-up.
Deffenbaugh Industries also announced Wednesday afternoon that it won't pick up recycling on Thursday in Lawrence. Deffenbaugh customers on a Thursday route will have their recycling picked up on Friday.

I can't say enough how much I respect the work ethic of our trash removal staff.
They are out there doing a dirty, thankless and dangerous job. They do it well and they do it no matter what the weather.
Trash removal is important, just ask anyone in Nepals http://www.huffingtonpost.com/groundreport/nepal-drowning-in-garbage_b_159794.html
Props to the men and women who provide this important public service.

Absolutely agree. My above comment was designed to elicit a few snickers, but I sure mean no disrespect to the city workers. Be safe out there folks!
