Kaw Valley Soccer becomes Sporting Kansas City affiliate

February 15, 2013

Lawrence-based Kaw Valley Soccer Association and Topeka’s Prodigy Youth Soccer Club will merge today to form Sporting Kaw Valley, a Sporting Kansas City Juniors Academy affiliate club.

The club will serve over 2,200 players between the ages of 3 and 18 in 60 teams this fall. As one of five Sporting KC affiliates, the club will have a path to the U.S. Soccer Development Academy, access to specialized training with Sporting Kansas City staff and at Sporting KC facilities.

I thought KVSA was already associated with Sporting... What has changed other than the name?

The merger with Prodigy I think is the only news. Many of the Prodigy HS players were playing here in Lawrence with the KSA team. Some Lawrence girls have been playing with Prodigy in Topeka. So, sounds reasonable.
