An elderly Lawrence woman told police early Tuesday morning she had been robbed in her home by a masked burglar.

Lawrence police officers responded to the call about 4:35 a.m. at the woman’s home in the Brookwood Mobile Home Park, 1908 E. 19th St. The woman said she had been awakened by a loud noise and then confronted by a male burglar wearing a ski mask, said Sgt. Trent McKinley, a Lawrence Police Department spokesman. According to the woman’s report, she struggled with the burglar after he entered her bedroom and demanded her purse. The burglar took the purse and fled.

Officers searched the area without finding a suspect, McKinley said, and the investigation continues.
