United Way of Douglas County short of fundraising goal

The United Way of Douglas County is seeking more donations to meet its fundraising goal for its 2013 campaign.

Colleen Gregoire, United Way’s campaign director, said she believes the campaign is getting close to reaching the $1.75 million goal. However, the organization may be unable to allocate as much money as it did last year unless more pledges are made.

Though the campaign officially ended on Dec. 6, donations are accepted any time before the New Year. The total amount raised will be announced in late February.

Funds from the campaign will be disbursed to local social service agencies early next year. The three main areas of support are education, health and self-sufficiency.

To donate, contact the United Way of Douglas County at 785-843-6626 or uwcamp@unitedwaydgco.org. To donate online, go to unitedwaydgco.org. Donations are tax deductable.
