KU volleyball’s Jarmoc repeats as All-American

Kansas University senior middle blocker Caroline Jarmoc became the first Jayhawk to earn back-to-back All-America honors when the American Volleyball Coaches Association named her to its third team on Wednesday.

Jarmoc, KU’s first All-American last year and the school’s all-time block leader, was joined by senior setter Erin McNorton, junior right-side hitter Chelsea Albers and junior outside hitter Sara McClinton, who earned honorable mention AVCA All-America honors.

“That is fantastic news that so many Jayhawks are being recognized because of what it says about this program,” KU coach Ray Bechard said. “A lot of hard work from an entire team can be seen in those four awards. We’ve talked about moving this program from successful to significant and these four have been a big part of that.”

The 2013 Jayhawks went 25-8 overall and 12-4 in the Big 12 conference, finishing second in the league standings. KU made it to the NCAA Tournament for the second year in a row and earned a trip to the regional round of 16. No. 14-seed KU lost to No. 3-seed Washington, who will play in the Final Four this weekend.
