Man flees after robbing Lawrence business at gunpoint

Officers with the Lawrence Police Department are investigating an armed robbery, according to a LPD news release.

Police were dispatched to La Tiendita, a grocery store at 3022 Iowa St., at 8 p.m. Saturday, according to the news release. The store clerk told the officers that a man entered with a handgun and demanded money. The clerk complied with the demands, and then the suspect fled the store.

The suspect is a Hispanic male, approximately 5-foot-8 and 150 pounds, according to the news release. He was seen wearing a black beanie, a black hooded sweatshirt and a jean jacket. The clerk told police the suspect spoke only in Spanish during the robbery.
