Veritas girls place third at Shea Invitational

? The Veritas Christian girls basketball team won the third-place game of the Shea Invitational, 48-21, over Chanute Christian on Saturday.

Tori Huslig led Veritas with 19 points and was named to the Shea Invitational all-tournament team. Macie Dressler had six rebounds as the Eagles held a 29-15 rebound advantage in the game.

Veritas held Chanute to just four points after halftime, including a scoreless fourth quarter.

“Our defense got better and better as the tournament went on,” Veritas coach Kevin Shelton said. “Defense was the difference in this game. We made some adjustments at halftime and shut them down in the second half.”

Veritas (2-1) faces Cair Paravel at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Topeka.
