Lawrence police are seeking a suspect in a Thursday evening armed robbery at Low Cost Tobacco Mart.

Lawrence police are seeking a suspect in connection with a Thursday evening armed robbery at a tobacco shop in South Lawrence.

Police responded to a panic alarm at 8:08 p.m. Thursday at Low Cost Tobacco Mart, 2104 W. 25th St., arriving at the store after the suspect left.

A clerk told police that a man entered the store armed with a knife and demanded money. He left the store with an undisclosed amount of cash. Police say the suspect was described as a Hispanic male, approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall, 150 pounds and wearing a black beanie, black hooded sweatshirt, black pants and white shoes. The suspect had a dark goatee and spoke with a Hispanic accent, according to the clerk.

Police ask that anyone with information on the robbery call the department at 785-832-7509 or CrimeStoppers at 785-843-TIPS (8477). Calls to CrimeStoppers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
