Salvation Army still seeking Adopt-A-Family volunteers

The Salvation Army in Lawrence still has 18 families that need to be adopted through its Adopt-A-Family program.

With two weeks before the distribution date for gifts, the Salvation Army is seeking the help of businesses, civic organizations and community members. Adopting a family includes a commitment of an outfit of new clothing for each family member, a new toy, game or personal gift item for each member of the family and a gift certificate from a local grocery store that will allow the parent to buy items for a holiday dinner.

Items will need to be delivered to the Douglas County Fairgrounds’ Building 21 on Dec. 16 and 17 and distribution will take place Dec. 19.

Those wishing to arrange a time for delivery or seeking more information should contact Lt. Marisa McCluer, Salvation Army Corps Officer, at 766-5905 or at marisa_mccluer@usc.salvationarmy.org.
