Heat advisory issued for today

The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory 1 to 7 p.m. today.

With temperatures expected to rise to about 105 degrees in Douglas County and surrounding areas, the weather service warns that cramps and heat stroke can result from prolonged exposure and cautions against working long hours outside or in poorly ventilated areas. The weather service also advises keeping an eye on children, the elderly and people with chronic ailments.

Should you become overwhelmed by heat, move to a shaded and cool area and call emergency medical services.
