Creators of commemorative bandana order more to keep up with brisk demand

A bandana commemorating the 150th anniversary of Quantrill’s Raid and the subsequent rebuilding of Lawrence has been a hit.

A Lawrence couple that designed and produced the bandana said they have ordered 700 additional ones after a recent article in the Journal-World caused sales of the commemorative piece to spike.

Judy Green, who designed the bandana along with longtime Lawrence resident Conrad Altenbernd, said they originally had planned on producing only 300 of the bandanas. But strong demand has caused them to restock local stores with 700 more.

The bandanas are available at Weaver’s department store, Cottin’s Hardware, Stoneback’s Appliance, and the Downtown Barbershop. By Wednesday, the bandanas also will be available at The Etc. Shop, Framewoods and The Eldridge Hotel, Green said.

The bandanas sell for $10.
