Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical tonight will give Life Saving Awards to 10 people who helped revive an unconscious teacher last spring.

Pam Schmeck, Eudora City Clerk, said that emergency personnel responded to a call on April 26 about an unconscious teacher at Eudora High School. When responders arrived, employees of the Eudora school district were performing CPR and applying an Automated External Defibrillator, or AED.

While being taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital, the patient regained a pulse.

“Ultimately, the patient passed, but it was enough time for the family to get there,” Schmeck said. “She was resuscitated for awhile.”

Eudora Fire Chief Ken Keiter will present the awards at the City Commission meeting, which starts at 7 p.m. at Eudora City Hall, 4 E. Seventh St.

Awards are being presented to Daniel Flick, Eudora Police Officer; Kevin Blake, Eudora firefighter; John Woolfolk, Eudora firefighter; Garret Ladd, firefighter/EMT; Peter Fridell, firefighter/EMT; Ken Keiter, Eudora Fire Chief; and Eudora schools employees Amanda Trober, Teresa Carnagie, G.A. Buie and Martha Mersmann.
