Fayetteville, Ark. ? Kansas University senior Paris Daniels raced to the third-fastest 200-meter time in the world this year as the KU women’s track and field team finished third on Saturday at the John McDonnell Invitational.

Kansas’ men’s team took fifth place.

Daniels, the Big 12’s reigning champion in the 200, finished in 22.76. The mark is the second-best in the NCAA this year.

Freshman Sydney Conley earned the top spot in the long jump with a distance of 6.35 meters.

Other top finishers for the KU women included Christen Guenther, who won the women’s pole vault with a height of 4.12 meters, and the 4×100 relay team of Andrea Geubelle, Conley, Denesha Morris and Diamond Dixon, which finished first with 44.92.

Michael Stigler led the KU men with a first-place, 50.26 mark in the 400 hurdles. Stigler also placed fourth in the 110 hurdles with 14.16.

The Kansas track teams will host the 86th Kansas Relays, running Wednesday through Saturday at Memorial Stadium and in downtown Lawrence.
