Westbound traffic blocked by rollover accident at Clinton Parkway and Inverness Drive

Westbound traffic at the intersection of Clinton Parkway and Inverness Drive was blocked Thursday afternoon while police responded to a rollover accident.

The accident occurred about 3:30 p.m., when a westbound Chevy Trailblazer driven by an 18-year-old Topeka man failed to stop for a red light, said Sgt. Trent McKinley. The Trailblazer struck a northbound minivan and rolled on its side.

The driver of the Trailblazer was not injured, McKinley said, but he was extricated from the vehicle by a Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical crew and cited by police for the traffic infraction.

Police were reopening the intersection at 5:30 p.m.
