Woman arrested on suspicion of burglary

Lawrence police arrested a 27-year-old Lawrence woman on suspicion of burglary at 5:12 p.m. Friday.

Lawrence Police Sgt. Craig Shanks said that at 4:22 p.m. on the 500 block of Florida Street, an area resident flagged down an officer on patrol to report a burglary.

The resident gave the officer a description of a woman they witnessed breaking into an apartment complex. Lawrence police contacted the apartment’s residents and found that a laptop and cash were stolen from the apartment.

Police later located a woman in the 1600 block of Haskell Avenue matching the description of the burglary suspect, arrested her and recovered the stolen property. The woman was also arrested on charges of distributing a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

She is being held on a $8,500 bond.
