25 years ago: Few movie workers still in town after ‘Kansas’ filming ends
From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for Sept. 29, 1987:
Location work on the movie “Kansas” had officially closed this week with a big party at the Lawrence Holidome, but workers had not yet left the area completely. A handful of crew members had remained behind to pack up boxes, clean out a few remaining offices, and ship items back to California. There was as yet no release date for the motion pictures, which still had six to eight weeks of Hollywood post-production work ahead. The filmmakers had occupied 70 Holidome rooms for the past three months, with the Eldridge Hotel serving as home-away-from-home for the film’s stars, director, and cinematographer.
