From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for Sept. 28, 1987:
- An attorney for one of the developers whose suburban Lawrence mall proposal was still on the table (but had not been recommended in a recent city staff report) said today that rejection of the rezoning request would not only keep the department store Dillard's from building here, but could also end the company's plans for a possible regional distribution center in the East Hills Business Park. "We are sure that Dillard's will not locate their distribution center in a community where they do not have a retail store," Lawrence attorney John Immel said.
- Movies in Lawrence theaters this week included "Fatal Attraction," "Hellraiser," "The Principal," "Dirty Dancing," and "The Pick-Up Artist." Arnie Johnson was playing at the Shiloh, and the Knights of Columbus Hall was hosting a 1950s-themed dance, with prizes for the best-dressed lady and gentleman as well as for "best limbo."
