A 23-year-old Leawood man was extricated from a car Tuesday afternoon following a one-vehicle accident on Tennessee Street, just south of 13th Street.

The accident occurred about 3:40 p.m. The car, a four-door Ford, hit a tree on the east side of the road.

The person was taken to Overland Park Regional Medical Center, according to emergency dispatch workers.

Lawrence Police Sgt. Trent McKinley said it's unclear at this time why the man's car left the roadway.

Emergency crews shut down Tennessee Street at 12th Street during the accident.

Which one ('s) of the extenuating circumstances come into play here. Hope everyone is OK!

Seriously, LJWorld? Quicktime player? You know there are plenty of options like Flash and HTML5 that don't require your users to download extra, outdated, and otherwise useless plugins to view your content, don't you? I guess I'll just be satisfied with the text representation.

Bullwinkles is not open during the day on Tuesday. I'm not sure if they are even open at night. Lots of eye candy on that street though.

Maybe he swerved to avoid hitting someone on a bicycle who doesn't understand the rules of the road, or someone stepped out into the street without looking. There are all kinds of other explanations besides being drunk. Give it a rest.

No, kernals comment was not cynical and rude on any level. You are being prejudiced by seeing KU students as a group instead of individuals.
