Kids Voting seeks volunteers at the polls

The Lawrence Kids Voting group is looking for volunteers to help kindergartners through 17-year-olds vote in a mock election Nov. 6.

Kids Voting participants go to a real polling place and cast a ballot as a civic learning exercise. Parents can vote while children participate with their own ballots, which are then tabulated.

The organizing group is looking for volunteers to work for about three hours on Election Day and attend a one-hour training session Nov. 1.

Kids Voting shifts will be from 6:45 a.m. to 9 a.m., 2:45 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. Anyone interested in volunteering can sign up through volunteerdouglascounty.org or get more information by calling 691-8700 or sending an email to paulforio@sunflower.com.
