Lawrence woman pleads no contest to charge of hitting man with vehicle

A 31-year-old Lawrence woman pleaded no contest Monday to one count each of misdemeanor assault and mistreatment of a dependent adult.

Christina M. Annis originally was charged with aggravated battery stemming from a January incident in which Annis struck a man with a vehicle in the 2400 block of Arkansas Street, according to jail records and Lawrence police. The man alleged she put the vehicle into drive and hit him in the knees, which propelled him onto the hood of the vehicle. He said that after he rolled onto the driveway, Annis drove away.

As part of a plea agreement with prosecutors, Annis additionally pleaded guilty to a separate incident in which she unlawfully used the debit card of a disabled man with whom she worked.

Douglas County District Judge Sally Pokorny accepted the plea agreement and sentenced Annis to one year of probation and ordered her to pay restitution of more than $1,500.
