Seabury volleyball 2-1 at Wetmore quad

? Bishop Seabury Academy’s volleyball team finished 2-1 at the Wetmore quadrangular on Saturday.

Seabury defeated Jackson Heights, 25-14, 25-9, and Troy, 25-20, 25-18, before losing to host Wetmore, 11-25, 17-25.

Senior Sarah McDermott registered eight aces, seven kills, eight assists and 22 digs. Freshman Ellen Almanza led the Seahawks with nine aces, while senior Courtney Hoag had 10 kills and seven blocks.

Seabury (10-5) played without senior captain Alexa Gaumer, who was injured during a home loss to Immaculata on Thursday. Coach Chrissy Leuty said Gaumer is out indefinitely due to a fractured fibula and metatarsal in her foot.

The Seahawks will host University Academy at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
