Rural Franklin County accident kills one Ottawa man, injures two others

An Ottawa man died and two other men were injured Wednesday afternoon in a one-vehicle rollover accident near Centropolis, according to Franklin County Sheriff’s spokesman Jerrod Fredricks.

James Richey, 49, a passenger in a GMC Envoy, died when the vehicle overturned about 5:30 p.m. in the 4300 block of Iowa Road, which is about 15 miles southwest of Baldwin City.

The driver, Eric Davis, 25, Ottawa, was flown by air ambulance to Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka, while the other passenger, Lance Geier, 23, also of Ottawa, was flown to Kansas University Hospital. Condition updates for Davis and Geier were not available from the hospitals.

Fredricks said the cause of crash remained under investigation.
