Following repeated complaints about some Ottawa bars, restaurants and liquor stores serving alcohol to minors, the Ottawa Police Department and the Kansas Alcohol Beverage Control conducted an alcohol operation Wednesday at several establishments, according to a news release issued by police Capt. Adam Weingartner.

Citations for serving minors were issued to servers at these Ottawa businesses:

• The Sandbar, 1604 S. Main St.

• Brandy Wine, 1605 S. Main St.

• Blue Sky Liquor, 1410 S. Main St.

• Pizza Time, 208 S. Main St.

“I want these businesses to know that the department takes these complaints seriously and we will continue to conduct spot checks for violations,” Weingartner said in the release.

No excuse for a liquor store to sell to minors, except maybe fake ID.

Just heard the ABC ran a sting in Lawrence yesterday where they sent a 16 yr old to buy cigs from cig machines in the businesses. I know of two that got the $500 fine. I love how they break the law to enforce the law.

Lawrence is the only city in Kansas with minors drinking (insert sarcasm). ABC should keep all 7 agents for the state of Kansas in Lawrence every weekend... Oh wait, they already do that...

Now if the Franklin Co. S/O&the KABC would only do the same at the dump out on the "Hill"-they could issues more citations than they could carry!

Wow, that's like 100% of the businesses in Ottowa. I thought only Lawrence Ks had this problem. I wonder what the ABC would find if they raided bars in KCK or Wichita 20x a year like they do in Lawrence?
