Kansas men’s golf team finishes 10th at Golfweek tourney

? The Kansas University men’s golf team climbed two spots to finish in 10th place after the final day of the 15-team Golfweek Conference Challenge, Tuesday at Spirit Hollow Golf Course.

Senior Chris Gilbert led the Jayhawks as he tied for a 13th-place individual finish. Gilbert had a final-round score of 2-over 74, though sophomore Dylan McClure (tied-41st place) carded the team’s top score, a 1-over 73. Sophomore transfer Stan Gautier finished (tied-31st) and also shot a 2-over 74 on Tuesday.

“I thought we showed pretty good improvement from last week to this week,” KU coach Jamie Bermel said. “Chris (Glibert) had another good round today. It was a really good tournament for him, and Dylan (McClure) was steady again. We just couldn’t find the fourth score. If we could have had a fourth score each day, it would have been a huge help, but overall I’m not totally disappointed.”

Juniors Ryley Haas (78, tied-68th) and Bryce Brown (81, tied-70th) rounded out the Jayhawks’ scoring.

Next, Kansas will travel to the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational on Sept. 24 in Erie, Colo.
