Eudora names acting fire chief following resignation

Eudora Fire Chief Chris Moore has resigned, effective Friday, said Eudora City Administrator John Harrenstein.

In his letter of resignation, Moore said, “At the conclusion of the strategic planning process it became clear to me that the needs of the fire department require a full-time chief to effectively serve the community.”

On Friday, Harrenstein announced that Pete Feyerabend, a five-year member of the department, was hired as acting fire chief, until the department hires a permanent chief.

“I am pleased to have a man of Pete’s caliber serving as acting fire chief,” Harrenstein said. “His commitment to the department and to the community reflects a passion for service.” The announcement comes two days after Harrenstein announced that David Burger, a former undersheriff with the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, was named interim Eudora police chief, following the resignation on Sept. 7 of the previous chief, Grady Walker.
