From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for Sept. 11, 1987:
- An unnamed Kansas University student had been arrested early this morning after attempting to enter the Alpha Phi sorority. Police called to the scene at 3:13 a.m. had discovered the 19-year-old student on the fire escape of the house, apparently trying to enter to talk to a woman living there. In his attempt to flee from the law, the student lost his shoes before falling and skinning his knees. He then ran into a volleyball net and got tangled up before running into a cement wall.
- Plans to relocate the judicial and law enforcement center from its current 11th and Rhode Island location were put on hold this week. Douglas County commissioners told County Administrator Chris McKenzie to find a consultant to study the effect of a move on the downtown area.
