Hundreds of homes in southwest Lawrence were without power Thursday night.

More than 2,500 Westar customers were reportedly without electricity at 9 p.m.

As of 9:20 according to the Westar website, power had been restored

Douglas County dispatch said an electrical transformer malfunctioned in the area likely caused the outage.

The affected area was north of the South Lawrence Trafficway and west of Iowa Street.
